About Us
Dementia Lens: Orange is different in that it’s not run by medical experts or aged care professionals. It is an online hub created by local community members — after extensive discussions with experts — to collate key resources and information for the carers of people who are living with dementia.
All too often, people living with dementia and their carers are provided with nothing but a diagnosis. At this difficult time, it’s up to individuals and their families to figure out the next step: How do they get help moving forward, and from whom? How do they plan for the future?
After experiencing the challenges of finding support and services for their loved ones who are living with dementia, Orange residents Ceri Cameron and Denise Mills teamed up to create Dementia Lens: Orange.
Denise and Ceri share a passion for improving the quality of life for people who are living with dementia. Ceri is a designer, with a background in the health sector, who focuses on dementia-friendly, eco-friendly modern design. Denise is a writer, accountant, a member of Dementia Australia’s Business Innovation Advisory Group, and a Dementia Friends Group Facilitator.
With this website, Denise and Ceri aim to collate key resources so that carers in Orange know exactly what to do when a loved one is diagnosed with dementia, and what support is available. Through centralised information sharing we can improve the lives of people living with dementia in our region, who are as deserving of care and respect as any other member of the community.
They run this project on a volunteer basis, your ideas and feedback are very welcome.
